The inaugural $100,000-added competition, held in Weatherford, Texas, gives riders one final opportunity to secure their place on reining’s biggest stage. Horses move in March 17 at noon, and when competition begins, each rider will have one run to advance.

That stage ultimately leads to the 2026 The Run For A Million, set for August 9–15 at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, where they’ll compete for a piece of the million-dollar purse in front of a national audience.

Providing the voice of The Qualifier will be veteran commentator Steve Ross, whose work at major National Reining Horse Association events and The Run For A Million has made him a familiar and trusted mainstay in the sport. Ross has also been featured on The Last Cowboy, the series that follows riders as they prepare for The Run For A Million, giving fans additional perspective into the intensity of the road to Las Vegas.

“The format of The Qualifier creates immediate pressure,” Ross said. “There’s no easing into it. Every rider knows they have one run to earn their spot. That makes our job in the booth important. We have to help fans understand just how much is on the line, and the little details that separate a good run from a great one.”

Throughout the day, Ross is expected to be joined in the booth by select special guests. Riders such as Andrea Fappani, Jason Vanlandingham, Casey Deary, Gina Schumacher, Kole Price, Fernando Salgado, and Alessandro Frassa have already punched their tickets to Las Vegas, and several of those qualified competitors are anticipated to rotate through the broadcast as schedules allow, offering insight from riders who know exactly what it takes to perform under TRFAM-level pressure.

Each pivotal influences in the reining horse industry — and residing on a shared property in Weatherford — it only made sense for Oswood Stallion Station and Arcese Quarter Horses to team up in support of the TRFAM Qualifier coming to their home base location in Texas.

Oswood Stallion Station has long been associated with standing and promoting influential sires within the reining industry, playing a role in shaping the bloodlines that consistently perform at the sport’s highest levels — including TRFAM in Las Vegas.

For decades, Arcese Quarter Horses has similarly invested in building and impacting the industry through their elite breeding program, earning a highly respected reputation for producing quality individuals and a commitment to excellence. Arcese Quarter Horses has bred earners of more than $9.8 million, and owned horses who have won more than $4.4 million, including four NRHA Derby Champions and seven NRHA Futurity Champions.

“The Run For A Million has become one of the most premier of events in the reining horse industry. It is one we’re proud to have supported over the years through various partnership opportunities, standing stallions in the show pen and countless progeny performances and successes,” said Brock Malson, owner of Oswood Stallion Station.

“With the shift in the (TRFAM) Qualifier’s location to Weatherford, Leonardo (Arcese) and myself welcomed the opportunity to team up and expand our support of the show and the additional exposure it stands to bring to our respective operations here.”

The Commentator Booth sponsorship ensures that those tuning in via the free live webcast will have access to informed, professional commentary throughout the competition.

When the dust settles at Bosque Ranch on March 21, the field for the 2026 The Run For A Million will be complete. Nine riders will leave Weatherford with their sights set on Las Vegas. The rest will regroup and prepare for next year.
