Shorty’s Caboy Hattery has been named the presenting sponsor of the inaugural Breakaway Roping Showcase at The Run For A Million, set for August 11-15, 2026, at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

The showcase will be held Friday night, immediately prior to the cow work portion of the Cow Horse Challenge. It marks the first year breakaway roping has been included at The Run For A Million and is being produced in cooperation with Premier Women’s Rodeo.

“I’ve been going to The Run For A Million and had a booth there since it started,” said Shorty Koger, owner of Shorty’s Caboy Hattery. “I love going there and seeing everyone and enjoying the great competition.”

Koger has been a longtime supporter of rodeo and the Western performance horse industry, particularly reining and reined cow horse. She has been part of The Run For A Million every year since the event debuted in 2019, making the partnership a natural fit.

Her interest in breakaway roping is also personal.

“I really wanted to be a breakaway roper years ago when I rodeod, but I never did, because I was never taught and I was left handed,” Koger explained. “I think it’s a great sport with some really talented women.”

Breakaway roping has become one of the fastest-growing events in rodeo, drawing talented competitors and an expanding fan base across the country. Its addition to The Run For A Million brings another fast-paced competition to an already full Friday night schedule.

The showcase will lead directly into the cow work of the Cow Horse Challenge, giving fans the opportunity to watch two of the most exciting events in Western sports in one evening.

“We’re thrilled to have Shorty’s Caboy Hattery as the presenting sponsor. Shorty has been part of The Run For A Million since the beginning and has long been a champion of both rodeo and the Western performance horse industry. Her support of this inaugural event makes the partnership especially meaningful, said Cheryl Cody, TRFAM Show Manager.

The Run For A Million has continued to grow since its debut, bringing together leading competitors from reining, reined cow horse, cutting and other Western disciplines. The addition of breakaway roping continues that growth while recognizing the skill and athleticism of some of the top women in rodeo.

Cody added, “It’s been a pleasure working with Linsay Rosser Sumpter and Sami Jo Smith of Premier Women’s Rodeo. Their professionalism, vision, and commitment to creating opportunities for women in rodeo have made them wonderful partners throughout this process.

“Together, we’ve created something that I believe will be a tremendous asset to The Run For A Million and an exciting addition for our fans.”

The Run For A Million will be held August 11-15, 2026, at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas. Additional event information, tickets and updates are available through The Run For A Million’s official website and social media channels.
