โ€œIt felt very peaceful, very quiet out there. Iโ€™ve gone through the run so many times in my head that I had an idea of what it was going to feel like. I picked my song, because itโ€™s got a lot of rhythm to it, and I wrote the word โ€˜flowโ€™ on my hand,โ€ Price said. โ€œThis horse has so much pattern flow to him and rhythm, and thatโ€™s what I wanted to execute with that horse was to have a beautiful pattern flow. He was spot-on.โ€

The previous NRHA record score was a 236.5 by Andrea Fappani and Custom Legend at the 2007 National Reining Breeders Classic. Price says the most meaningful aspect of breaking that record is that it goes on Golden Coinโ€™s resume, which is already stacked with big wins.

The 2020 AQHA/APHA stallion by Spooks Gotta Gun and out of Electric Cha Cing by Jacs Electric Spark is owned by Coin Toss LLC and bred by Silver Spurs Equine and had won over $354,000 prior to TRFAM.
Price and Golden Coins won the 2024 TRFAM Open Shootout, the 2025 NRBC Open Level 4, finished as reserve champions in the 2025 NRHA Derby and won the 2026 NRBC Open Level 4 only a few months prior to TRFAM.

โ€œTo finally crack it, I knew this horse had it in him. At the NRBC he was 231.5, and I told my wife Kelsey that we still havenโ€™t seen everything yet,โ€ Price said. โ€œHe was just waiting for the right stage. I donโ€™t think about this for myself. Iโ€™m glad that when people hear the highest score, they hear Golden Coins. This win is more important for me to do for him, than he did for me. Now, heโ€™s getting in a different league. Everything he does, he just does it like Golden Coins. Heโ€™s such a unique individual.โ€

The Pilot Point, Texas, NRHA professional of over $2.1 million in earnings previously won The Run For A Million in 2021 aboard Gunna Stop with a 224. Price carried that cool, experienced mentality into his approach for the horse show tonight.

โ€œI kind of expected tonight that somebody was going to break the record. They asked me in an interview this week what it would take to win, and I said, โ€˜A score nobodyโ€™s seen yet.โ€™ I had the mentality of not worrying about beating everybody else, just donโ€™t beat yourself,โ€ Price said.

Price added thanks to his wife Kelsey Price and entire team of supporters, including Golden Coinsโ€™ team of owners.

โ€œIโ€™m thank my beautiful wife Kelsey. We are expecting a baby here in a couple months, and she got up every night and helped me ride,โ€ Price said. โ€œI thank the Roberts family [of Capital Quarter Horses] for believing in me when I went to them with a business plan to buy this horse after he only won $800 [at the NRHA Futurity]. They never questioned it. They knew how special he was.โ€

โ€œI thank Don and Joetta Bell. We are so close as friends and family, but they have a great eye and are so amazing to be around. Don is Golden Coinsโ€™ No. 1 fan. He is so calming to be around,โ€ he continued. โ€œI thank one of my best friends, Jason Donahue. He was here the entire time and is one of the best human beings in the world. I told everybody as we walked out of our alleyway [in the stall barn], “Hey, guys, this is what it’s all about right here. It’s not about all the wins. It’s just about how you know you have your group, and they’re there with you.โ€™โ€

Congratulations to Kole, Golden Coins and all of the connections!
