The Run For A Million’s management team has announced the creation of the Non Pro Cutting Challenge, which will debut at the 2026 The Run For A Million, held August 9–15 at the South Point Hotel & Casino Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Non Pro Cutting Horse Challenge expands The Run For A Million’s cutting horse offerings, joining the already established $250,000 Open Cutting Horse Challenge. The Non Pro division will feature $125,000 in added money.
The Run For A Million, known for the Million Dollar Reining, is highlighted on the hit television series, The Last Cowboy, and also features the $250,000 Cow Horse Challenge, Youth Cow Horse Challenge, Heritage Ranch Challenge, Youth Reining Challenge, $100,000 Shootout (a qualifier for the 2027 Million Dollar Reining), and the Race to the Slide competition.
The qualifying event for the Non Pro Cutting Horse Challenge will be held at The Winter Bash, to be held at Bosque Ranch in Weatherford, Texas, January 23-February 6.
The Non Pro Cutting Horse Challenge Qualifier will be Secretaried by Kim Cox, The Run For A Million Cattle Event Coordinator, who was named National Cutting Horse Association Secretary of the Year in 2024.
Cox said, “I look forward to watching the NCHA’s most talented Non Pros join the Open riders on the big stage at The Run For A Million. The Non Pro Qualifier at the Winter Bash will be exciting as everyone will be bringing their best to qualify for Vegas.”
Cheryl Cody, Show Manager for The Run For A Million, said the addition aligns with the event’s mission to elevate western performance horse competition across multiple disciplines.
“Continued growth and continued support of the western performance industry is the long-term goal for The Run for A Million and adding the Non Pro Cutting was a logical next step. It will complement the existing cattle events and contribute to the growth of the show by giving fans two world class cutting classes.”
Additional details regarding the qualifier will be released soon.
