The 13-year-old from Germany and the 2015 stallion by Lil Joe Cash and out of Gunners Blonde Chic also won the $125k Booth Ranches Non Pro Challenge for $31,873 with a 224 in a four-person run-off a few days prior to winning the Youth.
Thanks to Bloomer Trailers, Gebert won an additional $4,000 bonus.
“He is a super nice horse. I won the Non Pro and now I won the Youth; he’s such an amazing horse,” Gebert graciously said. “I worked mostly on the rundown [between runs], but not too much so he wouldn’t be too tired. He feels really good, and the rundown felt better than before. Everything feels nice.”
The young talent has won more than $60,000 and showed at TRFAM in 2023 and 2025. “Duke” is also well-acquainted with the South Point Arena after placing at the inaugural 2019 The Run For A Million Reining with reining legend and newly inducted NRHA Hall of Famer Tom McCutcheon in the saddle. The stallion’s lifetime earnings now top $84,000.
Gebert has ridden and shown Duke a few times during his trips to the States, including a second-place finish last year at TRFAM in the Youth Reining Challenge. He trains at home in Germany with his parents and in the States with NRHA Million Dollar Rider Arno Honstetter, as well as Patrick Flaherty in Arizona.
Spending time at an event like TRFAM with all the top riders in reining, reined cow horse and cutting is a lifetime experience for Gebert. Winning two titles of his own is icing on the cake.
“I cannot explain [riding around the trainers] with words, but it’s pretty nice and a cool experience,” Gebert said with gratitude. “I thank everyone who supports me — my family, my trainer Arno, Patrick, my dad, my mom, and everyone. It’s nice to be here, and all the people who let that happen, that in Europe there is the qualification to come here. Thank you Taylor Sheridan who made this show happen.”
